Sun City West, Arizona · Honest guidance
Repair or Replace Your AC in Sun City West?
It's the question every owner of an older Del Webb home eventually faces: is this system worth fixing again, or is it time for a new one? There's no one-size answer — but there is an honest one for your situation. We'll help you find it, with no pressure and no commission driving the recommendation.

The honest version
Sometimes repair. Sometimes replace. We'll tell you which.
Many Sun City West homes are 30 to 45 years old, and their original systems are long past the age where every repair is automatically worth it. But "old" doesn't always mean "replace" — plenty of aging systems have a good fix left in them, and we'll never talk you out of a sensible repair just to sell a new unit.
The honest answer comes down to a few things: how old the system is, what the repair costs versus what it's worth, how efficient the unit is, and how many more Arizona summers you're realistically asking it to survive. We look at all of it, show you the numbers, and let you make the call on your timeline. Our technicians don't work on commission, so there's nothing pulling the recommendation one way or the other.
How to think about it
When each choice usually makes sense
A repair often makes sense when…
- The system is under about 12–15 years old
- The repair is minor — a capacitor, contactor, or drain line
- The unit is otherwise cooling well and efficient
- The repair cost is a small fraction of a new system
- You've kept up with regular maintenance
Replacement is often smarter when…
- The system is 15–20+ years old
- You're facing a major repair like a compressor
- Repairs are becoming a yearly event
- Your summer power bills keep climbing
- The unit uses old R-22 refrigerant, which is costly and being phased out
A common rule of thumb: if a repair costs more than about a third to half the price of a new system, and the unit is well into its teens, replacement usually wins over the long run. But it's a guideline, not a law — your situation is the thing that matters, and that's what we assess.
The family behind the work
Meet Don & Teigh Wade
Pro Solutions Air started in 2011 with one truck and a personal cell phone — no loans, no investors. Don ran the fieldwork; Teigh ran everything behind the scenes. Fifteen years later they still own and run the company, and the technicians who come to your Sun City West home are people they trained, not subcontractors.
That's why our people don't work on commission. On the repair-or-replace question, that's everything — you're getting the answer that's right for you, not the one that pays us more. And if replacement is the way to go, every new system carries our 15-year parts and labor warranty.
Not sure which way to go?
Call and we'll assess your system, show you the honest numbers, and help you make the right call — on your timeline, with no pressure.
Common questions
Repair or replace — quick answers
When should I replace my AC instead of repairing it?
Replacement usually makes more sense when the system is 15 to 20 years or older, you're facing a major repair like a compressor, repairs are becoming a yearly event, or your power bills keep climbing. A common rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than a third to half the price of a new system, replacement often wins over the long run.
How long do AC systems last in Arizona?
Arizona heat is hard on equipment, so systems here often last 12 to 17 years rather than the 15 to 20 you'd see in milder climates. Many Sun City West homes still have their original units, which are well past that range.
What is R-22 refrigerant and why does it matter?
R-22 is an older refrigerant used in systems built before roughly 2010. It's been phased out, which makes it increasingly expensive to recharge. If your older system uses R-22 and needs a refrigerant-related repair, that cost is a real factor in the repair-or-replace decision.
Will you push me toward a new system?
No. Our technicians don't work on commission, so there's no incentive to steer you toward replacement. If a repair is the smart choice, we'll tell you. If replacement genuinely makes more sense, we'll show you why with real numbers and let you decide.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold four Arizona ROC licenses, each verifiable in the state database, and we're BBB accredited and a Rosie on the House Certified Partner. We were also voted a Best of 2026 Air Conditioning Contractor.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience Keven!Posted on Google ChadTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolute lifesavers! In the first super hot week of July, our A/C system completely pooped out in the middle of the night. Our special needs kiddos woke us up sweaty and miserable, and we didn't know who to turn to. In a panic, my wife made a community post on Facebook asking for recommendations for a reputable company. Don from Pro Solutions Air responded within an hour of the post going up. He personally assured us he would take care of our family, and within another 45 minutes, he had already had two of his technicians, Matthew and Dylan, on-site. These guys worked incredibly fast to get our system up and running again. What blew us away was their honesty; there was absolutely no high pressure sales tactic to purchase things we didn't need, which we know other companies are notorious for doing. Matthew and Dylan were efficient, respectful, and genuinely honest. Don and his entire team have completely restored my faith that there are still good people out there who just want to help others in times of struggle. Thank you so much, Pro Solutions Air! You have absolutely earned our trust, our future business, and we will be referring you to everyone we know.
